The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has extended its strike by another four weeks to give the Federal Government more time to meet its demands.
The union took the decision at the end of its National Executive Council meeting at its national secretariat in Abuja on Sunday.In a statement by its President, Prof Emmanuel Osodeke, the union said: “Following extensive deliberations and taking cognisance of Government’s past failures to abide by its own timelines in addressing issues raised in the 2020 FGN/ASUU Memorandum of Action (MOA), NEC resolved that the strike be rolled over for four weeks to give Government more time to satisfactorily resolve all the outstanding issues.
“The role-over strike action is with effect from 12.01a.m. on Monday, 1st August, 2022.”

2023: Tinubu’s Presidential Ambition Threatened, As Christians In 19 Northern States Withdraw Support
The presidential bid of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Tinubu has suffered a major setback as the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in 19 Northern states including Abuja has withdrawn their support.
In a statement issued on Sunday, in Kaduna State, the Secretary-General of the Christian body, Sunday Oibe reiterated their opposition to the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the APC.
Giving reasons for their decision, CAN stated that Nigeria has never been divided along religious and ethnic lines.
Oibe also warned politicians to be careful about those parading themselves as members of the organisation from the North, with aim of their monetary gains, stressing that CAN would never engage in any secret dealing with any politician.
