At Kabba Day, Karimi Supporters Turn Cultural Festival Into Massive Show Of Strength For Tinubu, APC

The ancient town of Kabba was turned into a sea of blue and white on Saturday as supporters of Senator Sunday Karimi used the annual Kabba Day celebration to stage a massive mobilisation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general election.

Despite the recent Federal High Court ruling in Abuja in the suit challenging his emergence as the APC candidate for Kogi West Senatorial District, the Senator’s supporters showed no sign of slowing down. Instead, they flooded the streets of Kabba in their hundreds, marching, dancing and chanting solidarity songs in what many observers described as a clear statement of political strength and grassroots acceptance.
Videos and photos from the celebration, which have gone viral on social media, showed large crowds marching along the major streets of Kabba and gathering at the rally ground under canopies and tents. Participants, many of them youths, women and party faithful, wore matching blue polo shirts, white T-shirts and caps boldly inscribed with “KARIMI” and “THANK YOU SENATOR KARIMI”.
They waved Nigerian national flags and APC party flags, and carried printed placards reading “KARIMI FOR KOGI WEST SENATE” and “TINUBU FOR PRESIDENT, KARIMI FOR KOGI WEST SENATE”, featuring portraits of President Tinubu and Senator Karimi side by side.
The procession began with a street march through Kabba, with supporters chanting, dancing and flag-waving, before converging on a dense crowd at an outdoor field with tents and a stage, where security personnel were also visible. Another footage showed supporters seated under large canopy tents on reddish dirt ground, holding up campaign posters of Senator Karimi for Kogi West Senate alongside posters of President Tinubu for President, with the APC logo prominently displayed.
The atmosphere, according to eyewitness accounts from the event, was festive, communal and high-energy, characteristic of a grassroots campaign rally rather than a mere cultural celebration. Supporters were seen filming with phones, cheering and displaying party loyalty as they moved in an organised process
