Aguye Closes Empowerment Drive With N35m Cash Grants To 700 Constituents In Lokoja

The member representing Lokoja I State Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Danladi Sulaiman Aguye, has concluded his constituency empowerment programme with the disbursement of N35 million to 700 women, youths and vulnerable persons in Lokoja.

The beneficiaries, drawn from the five wards in Lokoja I, received N50,000 each at the third and final phase of the Women and Youths Empowerment and Cash Grant Programme held at the Children Amusement Park, Lokoja, on Saturday.

Speaking at the event, Aguye thanked the people for giving him the mandate to represent them and assured them of his continued commitment to their welfare and development. He said empowering women and youths remained a top priority, noting that the intervention was part of his efforts to improve the economic wellbeing of his constituents.

The lawmaker appealed to the beneficiaries to be patient with the amount given, assuring them that more empowerment programmes were in the pipeline.

“As your representative, I want to plead with all of you to bear with us over the little amount you are receiving today. We have more plans in the pipeline to empower you,” he said.

In his goodwill message, the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, commended Aguye for his interventions and contributions to the welfare of his constituents. He urged APC supporters to remain united and vote for all the party’s candidates in the 2027 general elections.

Similarly, a former Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Umar Imam, commended the lawmaker for the initiative and appealed to the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the financial support. Imam also called on APC members to support and vote for all candidates of the party in the 2027 elections.

The Lokoja Local Government APC Chairman, Hon. Idris Kasim Aloma, described the empowerment programme as evidence of Aguye’s commitment to his constituents. He said the lawmaker had justified the confidence reposed in him by the people of Lokoja I and Kogi Federal Constituency. Aloma also commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his leadership and support for the development of the state.

Other dignitaries who addressed the gathering included the Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area, Hon. Abdulrahman Husaini, and the APC Woman Leader.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Alhaji Mahmud Abdullahi expressed appreciation to Aguye for the financial assistance, describing the intervention as timely.

The programme, which focused on women, youths and vulnerable members of society, was the concluding phase of Aguye’s constituency empowerment initiative. The earlier phases were held in Koton-Karfe and at GYB Model School, Felele, Lokoja, covering beneficiaries across the constituency.

With the latest intervention, the lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to supporting grassroots development and improving the living conditions of his constituents.
