In what could be described as a political upset, the former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, has lost his polling unit to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the ongoing State Assembly Election in the state.
The development comes as a shock to many, especially given Idris’ long-standing reputation as a political heavyweight in Kogi politics.
Idris, who is a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), is widely regarded as the father of the party in Kogi State. However, the loss of his polling unit at Open Space along Anyingba Road under Mango Tree by Mechanic Shade, could signal a significant shift in political power within the state, as the APC appears to be gaining ground in the election.
According to reports, the PDP was only able to poll a total of 36 votes, while the APC secured a resounding victory with 88 votes.
This defeat at Idris’ polling unit is a significant setback for the PDP and could have far-reaching implications for the party in the state.
It is worth noting that the former Governor had previously expressed confidence in the PDP’s chances of winning the election.
