A Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress in Lokoja, Mudashiru Inuwa has accused a ranking Kogi Senator as the alledged mastermind behind the petition to the APC National Chairman, urged him to desist from allegedly causing distrust amongst party members ahead the 2023 Senatorial District elections.
The APC Chieftain made the disclosure following reports that some National Assembly Lawmakers from the State petitioned the National Chairman of the APC, alleging imposition by the party ahead the primaries.
The APC Chieftain pointed out that information available in public space point to the Senator as always wanting to rock the boat when it didn’t favor him, urged him to either throw his hat in the ring to contest again or play the game by the rules.
He urged members of the APC to close ranks ahead the forthcoming party primaries and the general elections, pointing out that it takes a united APC to face the opposition.
He appealed that Gov. Yahaya Bello as the leader of the party has always meant well for the party and has run the affairs of the party in good faith leading to success in the last seven years, urged all the aspirants to support him and the APC in the interest of the party’s victory in 2023.
Recalled that the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu had allegedly warned against any form of imposition in the forthcoming Kogi APC primaries.
The National Chairman gave the warning after he was said to have received a petition from some National Assembly lawmakers made up of Senators and House of Representatives Members from the State who a source said had written a petition to the Chairman alleging imposition that may lead to the death of the party.
The National Chairman according to a source warned against any form of imposition or kangaroo primaries that would not meet the stipulated electoral standard.
The National Chairman assured the petitioners of a level playing field in the forthcoming primaries, said it was a directive from President Mohammadu Buhari to the party that all aspirants must test their popularity at the primaries.
The Chairman described Kogi as a state very dear to the APC, warn against any form of complacency, intimidation and imposition by the party.
The petitioners who are members of the National Assembly according to a source had registered their displeasure by writing the National Chairman on negative happenings in the party, called on him to quickly intervene in the affairs of the party before things get out of hands…. Continue reading
