By joshua A TRIBUTE TO HON. CHIEF ABDULAZIZ IDOKO: THE VOICE THAT SPEAKS TRUTH TO POWER

Today, Hon. Chief Abdulaziz Idoko, one time Commissioner For Works, during the administration of Late Prince Abubakar Audu, marks another year.
A political and community leader, a titled Chief of the Igala Kingdom, and a proud son of Idah, the historic headquarters of the Igala nation on the eastern bank of the River Niger, has remained relevant with time and season.
In a time when many are quick to bend for convenience, Chief Idoko has remained relevant because he chose a harder path: the path of truth. He is known as an advisor who is unbiased. He speaks to power and speaks the truth, not minding whose ox is gored. That rare courage is what has kept him in the room where decisions are made, and in the hearts of the people who look to him for guidance.
Idah is not just a town. It is the seat of the Àtá Igala, the paramount ruler of the Igala people, and the political and cultural capital from which authority has radiated for centuries. To hail from Idah is to carry the weight of history, tradition, and responsibility.
Chief Abdulaziz Idoko carries that weight with dignity. As a community leader and Chief, he has positioned himself not as a man of titles alone, but as a man of service. His relevance has not come from noise, but from counsel — wise, measured, and consistent.
What makes Chief Idoko stands out several years after he left as Commissioner in Kogi East politics and community leadership is that he is known to speak truth to power. In Igala tradition, the call for honesty and accountability is a moral duty. Chief Idoko embodies that. He says what must be said, whether it is popular or not, because he believes that “only through truth can we build love. Only through honesty can we inspire understanding. Only through accountability can we achieve progress”.
His advisory role has kept him relevant across administrations and divides. He does not play to the gallery. He offers counsel rooted in the interest of the people, not personal gain. That is why leaders, young and old, continue to seek his voice.
Like the Igala kings of old who consolidated authority for the good of the people, Chief Idoko has used his position to advocate for peace, unity, and development in Igala land. He understands that leadership is about building people, not just positions.
On this day, as he adds another year, we celebrate more than age. We celebrate integrity. We celebrate a man who has chosen to be a bridge — between government and the people, between tradition and progress, between truth and power.
May the Almighty continue to grant you wisdom, strength, and long life, Hon. Chief Abdulaziz Idoko. May your counsel continue to guide Kogi East and the Igala Kingdom. May your household be blessed, and may your legacy of speaking truth without fear inspire the next generation of leaders from Idah.
Igala land needs more men like you — men who are not afraid to stand for what is right.
