Government’s Attention To Workers Welfare Remains Unshaken – SA On Labour Matters, Onuh Edoka

Special Adviser to Kogi State Governor on Labour Matters, Comrade Onuh Edoka says the attention of the present administration to workers welfare is second to none.

 

Comrade Edoka made the remark in his office at the Government House, Lokoja while receiving members of the Kogi State Chapter of the Association of Professional Secretaries Of Trade Unions.

He noted that the Chief Servant, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has always placed the attention of workers on the front burner, citing the various welfare programmes since assumption of office as heartwarming.

According to him, the immediate implementation of minimum wage, tax holiday for over two years, health insurance, promotion cash backing, full payment of salaries to local government workers, full payment of hazard allowance to Doctors and health personnel as well as other welfare packages are worthy of commendation.

The Special Adviser urged the professional Secretaries to see the state as their own by contributing meaningfully through constructive engagement, especially when considering the fact that the cordial relationship with the government has been very remarkable.

“Let us take note of the fact that the relationship between government and labour has been very cordial, this is because the Governor do not take the welfare of workers so lightly, look at the programmes concerning workers, uncountable and very positive in the Lives of workers, this is a departure from the past and we can say boldly that the era of crises between government and labour has since been a thing of the past”, Edoka remarked.

He appealed to the professional Secretaries to add value to the labour movement, assuring that government would continue to do its best by putting smiles on the faces of workers

The Special Adviser also enjoined them to support the aspirations of the Governor in order to guarantee the development sustainability of Kogi State.

Earlier, the spokesperson of the delegation, Comrade Owoeye Oladipupo said the visit was to familiarize with the Special Adviser whom he described as a super leader whose legacies remain unbeatable.

Comrade Owoeye Congratulated the Special Adviser on his well deserved appointment, noting that the Governor made the best choice by bringing the best brain within the labour cycle as Special Adviser.

He called for necessary support to the Association with an assurance that the body will continue to live above board.
