2027: Dr. Goddey Bassey Joins Lokoja I Assembly Race, Submits Letter of Intent to APC Leader.

Dr. Goddey Bassey has officially declared interest in the Lokoja I State Constituency seat in the Kogi House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general election.

Bassey submitted his letter of intent to the Leader of the All Progressives Congress in Lokoja, Hon. Alfa Imam, a former Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly.
Leading a delegation of supporters to Imam’s residence, Bassey said he was driven by a “passion to change the narratives of representation” and disclosed that his blueprint centers on human capital development.
He pledged an “all-inclusive representation” with youth and women as his focus, adding that he has the capacity to offer quality representation and make the APC proud.
Responding, Imam commended Bassey’s courage to contest and confirmed that 22 aspirants are now seeking the Lokoja I and 2 ticket under the APC.
He described the aspirants as “people of impeccable character” and said the number reflects “the beauty of democracy.”
Imam disclosed that the party leadership has concluded plans to invite all aspirants to address stakeholders so they can state their objectives.
He said the party will streamline the number, particularly the 16 aspirants from Ward A, before the direct primary.
He stressed that the APC in Lokoja will provide a level playing field for all contenders in a transparent and credible process.
Imam also urged party members to complete the ongoing online registration, noting that it is required to vote in the primary.
The visit ended with Bassey’s formal presentation of his letter of intent to the former Speaker.
