Kogi State Youth Parliament Condemns moves to Concession Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited (ASCL) And The National Iron Ore Mining Company (NIOMCO) At Itapke.

The Kogi State Youth Parliament in an open statement called out His Excellency, Gov Yahaya Bello, Kogi State House of Assembly, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Solid Minerals and Natural Resources Kogi State to immediately stop the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development from Concessioning of Ajaokuta Steel and Itapke Iron Mining Company.

The Speaker, Rt Hon Ibikunle Olajide in a statement on Friday in Lokoja Condemns the dieing-minute illogical act of the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, says it is against the interest of the Youths of Kogi State, insisting that all efforts must be put together to halt the process.

A 20 day ultimatum for advert for interested and possible buyers over a highly funded company like Ajaokuta Steel and Itapke Iron Mining Company is a breach of the Infrastructural Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) which stipulated Six weeks for appropriate advert to enable possible buyers to access, evaluate and go into proper negotiations.

The 20 day response is to put a rush into the concession of the company which in turn will jeopardize the future of the Youths of our dear state.

“I consider the Concessioning of the Ajaokuta Steel and Itapke Iron Mining Company as an act of fraud against the interest of the Youths of Kogi State”.

Our Iron Ore, Local coal, lime stone and necessary raw materials when properly put to use can sustain the Youths for a thousand years and give a befitting prospect to Kogi State.

It took the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development Six months and few days to sort out their “Transaction Adviser”, how come the Ministry is giving 20 days to gather bidders across the country over the company.

The Speaker urged His Excellency, Gov Yahaya Bello to use his Federal Might and Connection to as a matter of Urgency halt the Concessioning bid in the interest of Kogi State and the Youths at large.

The Speaker has also urged the Incoming Administration of Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu to revert the earlier bill approved by both Arms of the National Assembly for Government to fully fund, complete and operationalize Ajaokuta steel company first and privatize the companies at premium prices after.

God Bless Gov. Yahaya Bello
God Bless Kogi State House of Assembly
God Bless Kogi State Youth Parliament
God Bless the Entire Youths of Kogi State.

Ojuolape Isaac
CPS to Speaker
Kogi State Youth Parliament.
