The Built Environment and Materials, (BEBM), Exhibition, has honoured Chief (Hon) Julius Arojujoye (JB) and Mr. Abdulrafiu Yakubu Foundation Honoured for their Contributions to the Society.

The theme of the Exhibition is “Local Building Materials; Affordable Strategy For Housing in Nigeria and the Part To Economic Rejuvenation.” Which was essentially aimed at drawing attention to the use and affordability of local building materials.

Chief (Hon) Julius Arojujoye (JB) received the 2024 Built Environment Development Excellence Award, of BEBM Exhibitions, while Mr. Abdulrafiu Yakub was awarded the Shelter Development Icon of the Decade.

Chief Arojojoye Julius Biodun, is a an Entrepreneur a Business man and the Managing Director of several companies which includes; Managing Director of Parklays Nigeria Limited, MD. Golden Gate Integrated Services, Principal Partner GASAPAN Ventures Limited, Bukky and Brothers Venture Limited, DEJORAB Ventures and Dapo Royal Synergy Limited.

The determined “JB” as he is popularly called attended the Federal School of Art and Science, Suleja, Niger state, from 1981 to 1982 and graduated with HSC advance Level. He has held several leadership positions.

Mr Abdulrafiu Yakubu on his part, strive to create an enabling environment for human capital development and opportunities for growth. A Community development enthusiast, leadership modeling and advocate of the poor and indigent students of the society. To him giving better life to the widows and orphans is a calling

He attended the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, where he obtained a Higher National Diploma (HND] in Estate Management and Valuation among other professional certificates to his honour

Speaking during the occasion, the convener of BEBM Exhibition, Hon. Bayode Oladipo said the use of local materials in construction can have several benefits, including reducing costs, supporting local economies, promoting sustainability, and reducing the carbon footprint associated with transportation of materials.

“By using materials sourced locally, construction projects can often save on transportation costs and also support local businesses and communities.

“Additionally, local materials can sometimes be more readily available and suited to the local environment, leading to potentially lower costs and more efficient construction practices.

“On the Overall, encouraging the use of local materials in construction is a strategy that aligns with principles of environmental sustainability, economic development, and community resilience.
