Following the pronouncement made by Governor Yahaya Bello today (Monday) at the swearing in ceremony of the newly elected Local Government (LG) Council Chairmen, Vice Chairpersons and Councillors at the Lokoja township stadium, that as part of his ways of encouraging youths inclusiveness in governance and policy making, all Chairmen across the 21 Local Government in the State should follow similar arrangements and ensure that the Coordinators of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), in their various LGs are made Secretary of respectively.
The State Chairman of NYCN, Comrade Israel Femi Alonge has to this effect, expressed total gratitude to the Governor for finding Kogi Youths worthy of this golden opportunity to serve.
According to him, Kogi Youths have never had it this good in the history of any government administration in the State.
He said, “not even in the history of Nigeria has it been heard that a government embraced Nigerian women and Youths in matters of governance and policy making just like Governor Yahaya Bello has done and still doing in Kogi State”.
This is more of a golden opportunity to Nigerian women and youths than it is to Kogites alone, he emphasized.
“Recall that the Governor as the leader of the APC, ensured that the 21 Local Government Vice Chairmens are women in the same light that there is at least one woman in each LGs Legislative Councils to be the Council Leaders.
“This is a perfect implementation of the 35% women inclusiveness in governance and policy”, he said.
“This is indeed a testament of Yahaya Bello being a Youth at heart and in action”.
Alonge noted that in Governor Yahaya Bello, Kogi as well as the larger Nigerian Youths can be rest assured that they have gotten the voice they have long waited for to speak for and defend them; a courageous leader to front the course of the Nigerian Women and Youths.
The Chairman added only excellent performances from the youths and women can justify the level of gratefulness to the magnanimity of the Governor.
He further enjoined the Executive Council Chairmen to ignore “side distractions” and go ahead with the quick implementation of this decision, stressing that any Local Government Council Chairmen who fails to abide by this will only end up being tagged an enemy of the youths and a hindrance between the youths and their future. His Excellency, the party and even the electorates.
He stressed that youths in their larger percentage, defiled all odds to ensure that they are given the mandate as Executive Chairmen, therefore, on no account should this kind gesture not be reciprocated back to the youths via the NYCN.
“At this juncture, we are left with no other consolation other than to stand tall with governor Yahaya Bello even far beyond the level of Kogi State”.
“Our Colleagues in other States of the Federation will now be further convinced to see reasons why they have to join us to speak with one voice calling for a young and highly courageous leader to speak for us at the National level”, Alonge said.
