AIYETORO – EJIBA ROAD REPAIRS: MY SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE IS IN GOOD FAITH, IM NOT IN COMPETITION, – Hon. Sunday Karimi

A two term former House of Representatives Member, representing Yagba Federal Constituency, Hon. Sunday Karimi has described the efforts being made by himself and his successor, Hon. Leke Abejide on the ongoing repair work on Yagba Axis of the Kabba -Ilorin Federal Road as a service to the people.

In an exclusive interview with the former Legislator, Hon Karimi described the initiative as a deserving one, commended Hon. Leke for the work saying he knew the enormity of resources involved.

Hon. Karimi in his response to why he embarked on the palliative work on the road said, as someone who travel on that road regularly, and knowing several efforts he and others made while in the National Assembly to get the road rehabilitated by Federal Government and even the several other efforts made by the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to get the attention of the Federal Government which has not yielded the desired result.

In his words: “It therefore became imperative that we take our destiny into our own hands, we can no longer continue to suffer the untold hardship we go through on that road as if we are not part of Nigeria.”

“Our people lives are endangered and exposed to kidnappings and other road hazards due to the state of the road.”

“I may not be able to give the road total construction but I decided to do all I can to make the road motorable at least to reduce the harrowing experience my people go through on that road.” He said.

Karimi said he had started the work since September this year with repair of township road and erosion control work within Egbe and that while those ones are ongoing he decided to mobilized resources to carry out the palliative work on the Ejiba – Aiyetoro Axis of the road.

“Recall that on the day I was flagging off the work, I made a clarion calls to all well-to-do citizens of Yagba land to join and support me, so I was very glad when I read of Hon. Leke’s response to the call, honestly I am using this medium to appreciate and commend him, he is putting huge resources into the work.”

“Let me take this delicate liberty to say this that contrary to the thinking of enemies of progress who are doing everything to make it look as if we are into competition, i think they got it all wrong, we are committed to making life easy for our people and if that is the competition i call it a healthy one and good one for our people indeed. But honestly I am not in any competition, I am only doing the little i can do to give back to our people.”

“From my side for now we are progressing out of Ijowa and from Hon. Leke’s side, they are moving to Amuro, so anywhere we meet, we shall embrace ourselves in victory. We shall rejoice for having the privilege to put smiles into our people’s faces.” Karimi said

Hon. Karimi who said the project is massive and taking huge financial resources further called on other Yagba sons and daughters to come and complement their effort because there is still room to do that.

Karimi said he had started the work since September this year with repair of township road and erosion control work within Egbe and that while those ones are ongoing he decided to mobilized resources to carry out the palliative work on the Ejiba – Aiyetoro Axis of the road.

The former Legislator said his intention was to complete the palliative work to Aiyetoro but was extremely happy when his brother, Hon. Leke Abejide has described by him decided to heed the call taking it up from Mopa coming down towards Isanlu.
