“You’ve Started Well, We’ll Support You To Succeed”, Ijumu Organized Labour Leaders Assure Caretaker Chairman

The Leadership of Organized Labour in Ijumu Local Government Area have pledged their support for the Caretaker Chairman, Alh. Haruna Ibrahim popularly known as DSTV, saying he has what it takes to justify his appointment.
The Labour Leaders, who stated this during an interactive meeting with the Chairman on Monday 5th February 2024 at Iyara.
In his remarks, the Chairman of NULGE in the Area, Mr. Dare Emmanuel, applauded the efforts of the caretaker Chairman in restoring electricity to the Secretariat after years of darkness.
According to him, with the gesture, the Chairman has demonstrated capacity and political will to restore the most glory of the Local Government.
He prayed fervently for God’s guidance, wisdom and good health to enable the Council Boss continue his good work for the progress of Ijumu Kingdom.
On his part, the Chairman of the Medical Health Workers Union of Nigeria (NHWUN) Ijumu Chapter, Mr. Oshagbemi A.O, paid glowing tribute to the immediate past Governor of the State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for giving attention to health related matters and urged the incumbent Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo to emulate him.
He however raised concern over some challenges confronting them particularly in terms of personels.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Retirees in Ijumu LGA, Mr Oluwole, while congratulating the Caretaker Chairman on his appointment, urged the state government and the Local Government to always prompt payment pensions and gratuity.
The LGA NUT Chairman, Mr. Kehinde R.I, thanked the caretaker Chairman for the interactive session with the union in order to outline the shortfalls in the educational sector in Ijumu.
He pointed out that the Local Government currently lacks adequate teachers at both the primary education and UBE.
Responding, the Transition Caretaker Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Haruna promised to prioritize their welfare, despite the dwindling financial situation being witnessed in the state and the country at large.
The caretaker Chairman also directed the Leadership of NHWUN to write a letter requesting for a medical Doctor and other health personnel for onward processing at the state State Government.
The caretaker Chairman called on the World Health Organization (WHO) and other partner agencies in the state to support rebuilding of health infrastructure and the capacity of health workers in the local government.
The caretaker Chairman while responding to the request of the NUT Chairman, promised to look for a means of engaging qualified teachers within the purse of the local government to increase the number of teachers.
In a similar development, the Ijumu Transition Caretaker Chairman has sworn in Mrs Mustapha Rihanat Mosunmola as the Supervisor of Education.
Alh. Haruna urged the supervisor to live up to expectation, adding that only a good character aimed at ensuring service delivery will showcase her as worthy ambassadors of the local government.
