Yagba West: Council Chair Warns Against Selling Senator’s Rice Gift

The Executive Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Council, Hon. Tosin Olokun, has issued a stern warning to council officials and residents against selling the rice donated to the people of the area by Sen. Sunday Karimi, representing Kogi West Senatorial District.

Olokun gave the warning on Friday during the flag-off of the rice distribution in Yagba West, emphasizing that the donated food items were meant to alleviate the hardship faced by the people, not for resale.

“Anyone caught selling the rice meant for residents of Yagba West will face the full wrath of the law,” Olokun declared.

He commended Sen. Karimi for his generosity, describing the gesture as a testament to the senator’s commitment to the well-being of his constituents. The council boss also urged the beneficiaries to utilize the gift responsibly.

“This distribution will cover all communities in Yagba West, ensuring no one is left out. We thank Sen. Karimi for his thoughtfulness during this festive season,” he said.

Olokun assured that the council would monitor the distribution to ensure fairness and transparency. He disclosed that three bags of rice were allocated to each polling unit in the local government, while other groups, including the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), security operatives, Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), the traditional council, and others, received their respective allocations.
