The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Yagba Federal Constituency of Kogi state comprising of Yagba East, Yagba West and Mopamuro Local Government Areas today in Mopa overwelmingly and unanimously adopted their earlier resolution on Distinguish Honourable Sam Bamidele Aro for Senate 2023 for Kogi West and Hon. Tolorunju Faniyi for Yagba Federal House of Representatives.
The Yagba people, from all walks of life, who are members and loyalists of the PDP had converged on the Mopa country home of His Excellency Arc. Chief Yomi Awoniyi, a former Deputy Governor of Kogi state and the Lisa of Mopaland, on Saturday the 21st day of May 2022 in their thousands;, to confirm their seriousness, commitment and absolute determination to have a Yagba Man in the Senate come 2023 for Kogi West.
In attendance, were all the 34 wards Party Chairmen, the three (3) LG party Chairmen, all the the other 51 LG Executives across the three Local Governments and 136 statutory Ward Executives from the 34 wards, 102 ad hoc delegates from across the three Local Governments, the three National Delegates from the three Local Governments, Chief Bar. Dayo Onibiyo, former S.A to the Governor on Monitoring and Evaluation and presently the state Director Media and Communications Kogi PDP, Hon. Phillip Orebiyi, former member House of Assembly from Yagba West and Yagba project Secretary, His Excellency Arc. Yomi Awoniyi, the project Chairman and a former Deputy Governor of Kogi state and several.other distinguish dignitaries graced the life time event.
The public declaration and affirmation of Yagba for Senate 2023, which has eluded the good people Yagba, was done as each LGA took their turn to reject the 24 denial.
Each LGA was led by their LG party Chairman, as delegates, happily and voluntarily sorrounded their Chairman and took their tunes to echo Aro for Senate and T.J Faniyi for REPS 2023.
Hon. Sunday Ipinyemi Yagba East PDP Chairman and former Council Leader of Yagba East, Hon Bola Omoniwa Mopamuro LGA PDP Chairman and former S.A to the Governor, Hon. Onibiyo Omoye PDP Chairman Yagba West and for LG LO 2 Yagba West made the declarations with the delegates chorusing “Supported” and raising of their hands, while some even bonded in arms.
In conclusion, the Yagba people recalled how, Kogi West Senatorial is made of three (3) Federal Constituencies namely Yagba Federal Constituency with three (3) LGAs, Lokoja /Kogi Federal Constituency with two (2) LGAS, and Kabba/Bunu/ Ijumu Federal Constituency which has two (2) LGAs, they noted that Lokoja/ Kogi Federal Constituency has spent 8 years between 1999 and 2007. spending o ly two terms, while Kabbabunu/ Ijumu has spent 16 yrs from 2007 to date and unfortunately, some of their sons are still asking for more years without caring about their families in Yagba land, that is yet to in the Senate since 1999!
The good people of Yagba, therefore, humbly call on all fairness, equality and progress loving and seeking sons and daughters as well as residents of Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency and Kabbabunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency to support Yagba Federal Constituency for Senate 2023.
Yagba people also took time, to thank the several illustrious sons and daughters of the two Constituencies that are standing with Yagba Federal Constituency already.
