World Water Day: Kogi Govt. Promises to Make Provision of Quality Water Priority


Water has been described as life reason why the Kogi State Commissioner For Water Resources, Hon. Abdulmumin Danga, says the present administration has made it a priority.

Hon. Abdulmumin stated this when he received in audience Sam Kennedy Balogun Phd,
Commadant General Chaplain Corps, Nigeria, who was in his office on advocacy as part of activities marking the 2021 World Water Day.

The Commissioner described the present administration as one that has made the issues of infrastructure development a priority, Commended Gov. Yahaya Bello for his giant strides in road construction.

Hon. Abdulmumin expressed satisfaction with the ongoing construction of roads across the state and particularly praised the administration on the massive work ongoing on Lokoja as well as the Ganaja Flyover Bridge.

The Commissioner for Water Resources assured that no stone would be left unturned in providing water in quantity and with quality to the people, says the administration has embarked on the construction and rehabilitation of boreholes and other water schemes with the aim of providing water for the people.

He assured that the administration would not let the people down in the provision of quality water to the people and at all times, pointing out that the administration is interested in the welfare of the people.

Also speaking as part of the activities marking the world water day, Mr Dayo Thomas, the General of the Graphic Newspaper, said the need for a stakeholders conference on water in the state has become apt, described quality and quantity of water as vital to the existence of Man.

He noted in the importance of quality drinking water to the people, says the conference would help address the challenges of water as it is becoming increasingly difficult for Government to bear the responsibilities of Providing water alone.

Speaking, Sam Kennedy Balogun Phd, Commadant General Chaplain Corps, Nigeria, said the advocacy to carry out the advocacy on World Water Day became necessary so as to draw the attention of stakeholders on the importance of Water.

He added that the place of quality and quantity of water in the lives of the people remains sacrosanct, urged the State Government to make the provision of Water to the people a priority.

The Commandant  General Chaplain Corps, Nigeria also called on the Media to be in the vanguard for sensitizing the people on the importance of Water as it has to do with the right quality and quantity, described water as the essence of life.

As part of the advocacy also, the Commadant General Chaplain Corps, Nigeria visited the Commandant NSCDC as well as the Commander, Charimaigumeri Barracks, where he stressed on the need for people to drink enough water that is of quality, attributed most illnesses to be caused by water borne diseases.
