Who is who in the Environmental and energy sectors including the Chairman, Centre for Global Eco-Innovation (CGE) Nigeria and Vice Chancellor, Igbinedion University Okada (IUO), Prof Lawrence Ezemonye, on Saturday bagged the ‘Environment Icon Award’ for his role and commitment towards promoting sustainable Environmental development.
Proffessor Ezemonye, is a renowned Professor of Ecotoxicology and Environmental Forensics with over 30 years’ experience in research and teaching and a former Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) at the University of Benin (UNIBEN).
Ezemonye, who bagged the ‘Environment Icon Award’ was represented by the Dean of Pharmacy, Igbinedion University Okada (IUO), Prof.Ighodaro Igbe at the event organised by Frontline Energy and Environmental Consultancy Services (FEECS) in Benin City, Edo state.
Expressing optimism for a sustainable environment for all, Ezemonye said that effort is in top gear to enhance and improve environmental restoration.
“This years world Environment day is a campaign for restoration of mother earth in all entirety. Ecosystems restoration amidst COVID-19 Pandemic requires innovative regimes for both health and environmental safety..” he said.
The Visiting Professor to Lancaster University, United Kingdom (UK), lauded the effort of the organizers of the ‘Environment Icon Award’ put together by the Frontline Energy and Environmental Consultancy Services (FEECS) in commemoration of the 2021 World Environment Day Celebration, with the theme, “Ecosystem Restoration.”
Some of the awardees for the World Environment Day 2012/Environment Icon Award are, Executive Director, Environmental Rights Action/Friends of the Earth Nigeria, Dr. Godwin Uyi Ojo, Executive Director, African Network for Environmental and Economic Justice (ANEEJ) Rev. David Ugolor, the immediate Past Vice Chancellor of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Prof Ignatius Onimawo.
Other awardees include, Prof Babatunde Rabiu, Director/CEO, Centre for Atmospheric Research, National Space Research and Development Agency as well as MD/CEO of Benin Owena River Basin Development Authority (BORBDA), Engr.Saliu Ahmed among others.
