
As preparation brews up for political activities in our nation hood, the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists , (NAWOJ), Kogi State chapter has urged for more feasibility for women occupying political offices in Kogi State.

The chairperson of the association, Ann Olurinde made the statement at the congress meeting held in the Nigerian Union of Journalists center in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital where members converged to chat the way forward in issues that involves women in the decision making process of any democratic setting.
According to Olurinde, the call became necessary as there is a need to address the issue of putting the women who hold political offices under the table in some spheres is becoming worrisome saying in most cases, these women have a lot to bring to the table but when they’re not allowed, carried along or given the platforms, such woman keeps silent with golden ideas inside of her.
Mrs Olurinde who called on members to give more supports to women holding positions in Political offices in Kogi State.
In their various contributions, members of the association said their is need for more women to be given more platforms especially in environments dominated by the male folks.
Members concluded that more conversations around supporting the women and giving them a voice should come up frequently,while appealing to appropriate authorities to support women with the required resources to forge ahead.
Highpoints of the meeting centered around discouraging indiscriminate disposal of waste by residents of Kogi State, calling for more decent attitude on waste disposal.
Members also agreed to meet with the commissioner for women Affairs and social development concerning the number of beggers along the street in the state which they noted was increasing by the day.
In the same vein, the association discourages the culture of allowing the mentally derailed to roam the street of lokoja naked, hence harassing passer-by, calling on relevant authorities to take immediate action to rid them off the streets.
The association is preparing to hold a sensitization campaign against indecent dressing targeting selected higher institutions in Kogi State as parts of her outlined activities.
Recall that the association has carried out series of sensitization to various Secondary Schools to commemorate national and international events discouraging drug abuses, yahoo activities while discouraging fraudulent activities like the Yahoo and the likes and encouraging Entrepreneurship.
