The boy child have been asked to always report cases of sexual abuse, to shout out and not be silent against any noticed sexual abuse.
Eunice Abimbola Agbogun, Executive Director Challenged Parenthood Initiative, (CPI) made the appeal on Wednesday at Anchor International Schools while speaking on Pay Attention to Him, (PATH) project in collaboration with Millennium Fellowship.
Agbogun lamented the high statistics of sexual abuse against the Boy Child across the globe, stressed that, such cases have been under reported because of fear of stigmatization.
She appealed to the students to report cases of sexual abuse against the Boy Child, pointing out that it is not a weakness for the boy child to cry out when molested sexually.
She narrated that the Male Child most times is usually abused sexually, hence the need to embark on aggressive campaign to correct the misconception that it is only the Girls that are sexually abused ignoring that of the opposite sex.
She disclosed that the boy child is always taken advantage of because they are vulnerable, warned them to report anyone touching them in inappropriate places to remain safe.
“ Don’t be deceived by any individual who intends to entice you with material things just to abuse you sexually or in any form.
Don’t allow anybody take advantage of you because you are vulnerable. We have come to your school to enlignten you student on sexual abuse against the Boy Child. If anyone touches your private part, report quickly without any fear.
The Executive Director said it is on record that 1 out of every 10 male Children are sexually abused before they clock the age of 13, called on the need for collective efforts from critical stakeholders to reduce the negative trend, adding that, there is need for the Boy Child to always speak out and work on their mental health, pointing out that being vulnerable doesn’t make them less of boys.
While reiterating that the Boy Child needs the same attention as Girls, the Executive Director asserted that, sexual abuse is not less harmful in Boys than Girls.
