Across markets, schools, and community halls in Idah Federal Constituency, one name keeps coming up in conversations: Hon. Paul Ukwenya.
For many residents, he is not just the PDP House of Representatives Candidate for Idah Federal Constituency. He is the symbol of a renewed expectation that representation can once again mean service, accessibility, and results.
What stands out about Hon. Ukwenya’s campaign is the wide acceptance he has received irrespective of political party affiliation. From PDP faithful to APC supporters, from youth groups to women leaders, elders and traditional institutions, the message is consistent: Idah needs competent representation, and Ukwenya fits that bill.
“Party is not the issue now. It is about who can speak for us, who can attract development, and who will be there for the people,” a community leader in Idah said during one of the candidate’s town-hall engagements.
That cross-party goodwill has become the driving force of his campaign, positioning him as a unifying figure in a constituency that is hungry for purposeful leadership.
Hon. Ukwenya’s message has centered on restoring hope through practical action. His focus areas reflect the immediate needs of the people: education support for students, empowerment for women and youth, access to healthcare, and constituency projects that directly touch lives.
He has consistently argued that representation must go beyond Abuja debates. It must translate to scholarships, skills training, small business support, better primary health facilities, and advocacy for federal projects that can create jobs in Idah, Ibaji, Igalamela/Odolu, Ofu and Olamaboro.
“Leadership is service. When you serve with sincerity, the people feel it. That is the kind of representation I intend to give Idah Federal Constituency,” he told supporters during a recent outreach.
Political observers in Idah Federal Constituency made up of Ibaji, Idah, Igalamela Odolu and Ofu LGAs, they note that Hon. Ukwenya’s background as a grassroots mobilizer and his reputation for humility have earned him trust. He is known for showing up, listening first, and following through qualities many voters say have been missing.
Women groups describe him as “a man who remembers the poor.” Youth leaders point to his commitment to skills acquisition and digital opportunities. Elders commend his respect for tradition and his promise to carry every community along.
That blend of competence and compassion is why his acceptance cuts across party lines. For many, it is not about PDP or APC. It is about Idah rising again.
As the election approaches, the conversation in Idah Federal Constituency is shifting from politics of division to politics of delivery. And at the center of that conversation is Hon. Paul Ukwenya.
With his track record of community engagement, his open-door approach, and the growing coalition behind him, constituents believe the constituency is set for a new chapter — one defined by visibility in the National Assembly and impact at home.
“With Hon. Paul Ukwenya, hope is certainly going to rise again,” a women’s leader in Ofu summed up during a recent meeting. “We have seen the signs. We are ready to walk this path with him.”
