The Acting Chairman, Kogi State Internal Revenue Service, Alh. Sule Salihu Enehe says with the newly launched E- Tax Service, the tax system of the State will no longer be the same, said the service has now begun the driving of tax payment through technology.
The Acting Chairman made the disclosure at the End of the year media parley and the presentation on E Tax Services of the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service, said the Service has fully embraced the use of technology to drive tax compliance in the State.
While pointing out that through improved service delivery, the State now rakes in about N16.8 billion internally generated revenue, expressed optimism that it would hit N18 billion by December 2022, assured of meeting with the N23 billion expected in the 2023 budget estimate.
While pointing out that the world is going technology for the ease of doing business and rendering service, said convinience and efficiency and productivity has been enhanced, said with E Tax Services, issues of touting, said with E- TCC, the state would have a new lease of life in decent service delivery.
The Acting Chairman said tax compliance has been made easy for the people, said through a service charter, the obligation of the payer and the service, described education and enlightenment as a priority of the service.
He described the KGIRS as responsive to the people, urged the citizens and people living in the State to pay there tax to enable government meet up with it obligation to the people.
While unveiling the service charter which he pointed out will henceforth define the payment and Management of tax payment in the State, described the KGIRS as geared towards improving service delivery for the betterment of the State.
Beginning from 2023, KGIRS he added will establish tax stations in all the Local Government Areas to offer services relating to tax payment, described the present KGIRS as responsive and people oriented as the Service is taking tax Services to the grassroots.
For the tax payers, the Acting Chairman said through the Electronic- Tax Clearance Certificate Solution, E – Tax payment, E Tax Receipting, E Filling, E Tax portal, Tax payer registration and verification, Personal Income Tax (informal Sector), said the service charter now provides for taxpayers their rights and obligation.
The Acting Chairman said the mission and vision of the KGIRS is to consistently promote voluntary tax compliance via innovative technology and resourceful people engagement to the delight of all stakeholders, said the charter shall amongst others inform customers, taxpayers the service KGIRS provides.
The Acting Executive Chairman, Kogi State Internal Revenue Service, Alh. Sule Salihu Enehe is on record to have excellently and unprecedentedly repositioned the Kogi State Board of Internal Revenue Service in his first year in office.
Under his Leadership, the Acting Chairman has brought outstanding improvement in the day to day running of the Services, considered as a paradigm shift that has led to commendation within and outside the State, consequently, helping to soar up the revenue base of the Service, with tax friendly policies, thus leading to an improvement in revenue generation.
As part of his achievements mentioned during the Parley is the policy of motivation for the staff of the service staffers of KGIRS were paid thirteen months, towards ensuring the enhanced welfare and motivation packages for the Staffers of the organisation.
Alhaji Sule has in the last one year changed the narratives by repositioning the KGIRS for better service delivery through tax education, enlightenment and collection, has made prompt payment of monthly staff salary and payment of outstanding and current staff claims.
The Acting Chairman has equally granted approval for step, nocturnal for the Staffers, approved staff promotion, central billing system, renovation of area offices amongst others.
