WHO IS MALL NASIR EL RUFAI?

Whoever rejects Mall Nasir el Rufai, both in terms of his administrative skills and his contributions to nation building, lacks a sound plan. And I will explain in clear terms how and why this is the case. During his tenure as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under the Obasanjo regime, Abuja saw a remarkable transformation and there were no reported cases of corruption under his leadership.
Later, as the Governor of Kaduna State, he continued this trend and the state was widely praised as one of the most beautiful cities in Nigeria during his 8-year term. After the 2023 presidential election, he was nominated to become a minister, although he did not pass the screening. However, he had already presented a comprehensive plan to electrify the entire country by 2030.
It is truly baffling that a country with abundant natural resources and a mix of both capitalist and democratic principles, which could be managed and utilized for the development of the nation, would reject such a capable leader.
The development philosophy of Nigeria focuses on creating a just, united, self-reliant nation with a strong economy and an improved quality of life. It stresses the importance of education, ethics, and good governance, but unfortunately, the country faces challenges such as leadership failures, corruption, ethnic divisions, and weak institutions.
These issues call for a reorientation towards indigenous values, critical thinking, and sustainable practices for genuine progress beyond mere economic growth.
Undoubtedly, Mall Nasir el Rufai has proven himself to be a true nation builder by successfully creating a beautiful capital city and state without any corruption controversies. He is an exemplary leader who has become my political mentor, and I could continue to praise his leadership qualities endlessly.
I am grateful to him for standing firm during the coalition process and believing in democratic processes. His determination and focus on including young people in politics has sent a clear signal for their active participation in political affairs.
