The State Project Manager of Accelerating Nutrition Resources in Nigeria, Mr Bolarinwa Oladele says arrangements have been concluded to embark on nutritional services to pregnant women, infants and children in all local government areas of Kogi State.
Mr Oladele who made the disclosure while speaking with news men in Lokoja said the gesture was part of measures taken to reduce manultrition among children and pregnant women.
According to him, the State nutrition indices had greatly improved assuring that seven types of interventions would be made available to the targeted beneficiaries.
His words ” in the next few weeks, there will be seven types of interventions to be done by non two states actors for pregnant women and children. It includes; maternal nutrition, Vitamin A supplementation, oral rehydration, zink, micro nutrient powder to children between six months to twenty three months, iron and folic acid to pregnant women and other maleria preventive drugs.”
He expressed appreciation to Governor Yahaya Bello for developing interest in the health sector assuring that Kogi State would soon attained the standard recorded in Lagos and other states of the federation.
He explained that an independent verification agency as well as monitoring and evaluation committee set up by the state government would be on ground to monitor the excercise.
