The National Population Commission in Kogi State says it is committed to delivering accurate, reliable and acceptable census in 2023.
Prof. Habiba .I.Jimoh, Federal Commissioner, NPC, Kogi State made the disclosure at a One Day State Level Capacity Building Workshop For Journalists On Effective Reporting of the 2023 Population and Housing Census, says the Commission is resolved to delivering on it mandate.
While urging people of Kogi State to make themselves available to be counted, added that the 2023 National and Housing Census would largely be driven by technology, expressed the readiness of the Commission.
While pointing out that the Commission is resolved to surmounting the pitfalls of past census, said the Commission is engaging stakeholders on the need to make themselves available to be counted.
The NPC Commissioner said evading and refusing to be counted is an offense, said the training for Journalists is to make them better informed in reporting the census.
Earlier in a welcome remarks, Ojo Titus, State Director NPC, said the major function of the Commission is to conduct accurate, reliable and acceptable census for Nigeria, said machinery and mechanism has been put in place for a successful count.
While pointing out that the workshop intention is for the Commission to reach out to the Grassroots, reason why the need to build the capacity of Journalists, insisting that the media has a key role in delivering a successful 2023 census.
