Ahead of the 2024 governorship election in Edo, Very Rev Fr. Dr. Andrew Obinyan, a Catholic Priest has called on politicians to learn how not to play politics of tribal sentiments.
Obinyan made the call on Friday while receiving an award of recognition and honour from Conference of Registered Political Parties (CRPP), as a distinguished personality.
According to him, we should not play politics of division instead we should come together and join hand to ensure that we live and work as one Godly family.
” We should not let politics divide us, because we cannot gain anything as divided family.
“I stand here on behalf of the Catholic Church. Thank God for given Dr. Isibor the power to continue the good work, we are trained not to blow our trumpet and also not to allow somebody sound it for us.
“I feel humble and privilege to be here. As we approach election year let us remain as Edo people, we are too small to divide along tribal line.
When God want to bless Edo ,he will look for honest humble and obedient person to preside over us”,he said.
In his address, the Chairman of Conference of Registered Political Parties, CRPP, Dr. Samson Isibor, discribed Rev. Fr Andrew Obinyan as a fire brand Catholic Priest, visionary Leader, humble, discipline, Charismatic, Patriotic and a Committed Democrat who is ready to lead his people from lamentable situation to the promise land.
“The Catholic Priest has contributed immensely to the social-economic growth of Edo State and impacted one way or the other to many citizens particularly the downtrodden, the less privilege in our society both Spiritually and physically”,he stated
Among the awardees were Dr. Osahon Enabulele, immediate past President of the World Medical Association (WMA); Rev. Fr. Andrew Obinyan, a Catholic priest; Hon. Anemero Dekeri, a member representing Etsako Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.
Also honoured was Senator Monday Okpebholo, representing Edo Central Senatorial District, Hon Ernest Abegbe, Pastor Peter Ayo Olowojoba and Hon Christopher Osakwe, the deputy chief of Staff to Delta State Government.
