Ward A Deserves Fair Representation in Lokoja I Assembly Seat Rotation – APC Aspirant Comrade Ibrahim Osite Momoh
STATEMENT
As an APC aspirant for the Lokoja I Constituency House of Assembly seat in the 2027 general elections, I proudly represent Ward A in Lokoja Local Government Area, Kogi State.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) remains Africa’s largest political party, and Nigeria’s progress depends on sustaining the current momentum of governance at both state and federal levels. At the constituency level, however, preserving internal equity is equally vital for unity and trust.
Lokoja I Constituency comprises five wards: Ward A, B, C, D, and E. For years, the House of Assembly seat has followed an unwritten rotational arrangement, with each ward producing a representative for a single term. This gentleman’s agreement has been instrumental in maintaining fairness, balance, and inclusiveness across the constituency.
The introduction of an automatic second-term ticket threatens this tradition, particularly when it results in the marginalization of other wards. Ward A, being the largest in the constituency, deserves fair and equal consideration within the rotation framework.
Lokoja I shares similar political dynamics with Koton-Karfe (Kotto) Constituency, where rotational representation has been consistently respected. If automatic tickets are not practiced in Kotto, the same standard should apply in Lokoja I to uphold equity and preserve mutual trust among wards.
All past House of Assembly members from Lokoja I have honored this arrangement. The question now is: why should it change? Ward A deserves a clear explanation from party stakeholders and leaders in Lokoja Local Government on any deviation from this established norm.
This is the moment to address imbalances and prioritize the collective interest of the constituency over personal ambition. As the saying goes, “the first person to break a norm often does so subtly,” but such actions can set a precedent with long-term consequences.
Excessive marginalization of any ward breeds division, resentment, and politics rooted in bitterness rather than unity.
I, Comrade Ibrahim Osite Momoh of Ward A, lend my voice to this call for fairness and adherence to the tradition that has sustained peace and cohesion in Lokoja I Constituency.
