BATMEDICS has appointed Mrs. Onyegbule Petra Akinti as its National Director, Research, Media and Strategic Communication.
The appointment, contained in a letter dated October 7, 2026, was based on Akinti’s demonstrated competence, professional track record and extensive experience, which the organisation said would be invaluable to achieving its objectives.
According to the letter, Akinti will report directly to the Director General of BATMEDICS and will oversee the organisation’s research, media and strategic communication functions.
Her responsibilities include developing and executing comprehensive communication and media strategies aligned with the organisation’s mission, vision and objectives.
She is also expected to oversee research design, data collection, analysis and dissemination of findings across BATMEDICS’ programmes and initiatives.
The new National Director will further manage media relations, press engagements and public messaging on behalf of the organisation, while providing strategic communication counsel to senior leadership and the Director General.
She will also lead, mentor and manage the Research, Media and Strategic Communication team, as well as build and maintain relationships with media partners, stakeholders and external audiences.
The letter tasked Akinti with monitoring public discourse and advising the organisation on reputational risks and opportunities, while ensuring that all communication materials conform to BATMEDICS’ brand guidelines and quality standards.
As part of the conditions of her engagement, the organisation stated that she would not work with, consult for, provide services to or otherwise engage with any opposition political party, directly or indirectly, whether paid or unpaid, throughout the duration of her engagement with BATMEDICS.
