Operatives of the Kogi State Vigilante Service (KSVS) have rescued a 41-year-old worker of Dangote Cement Factory, Mr. Muri Sadiq, who was abducted by suspected kidnappers in the forest area of Obajana.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, 4th November 2026, at about 2:00 p.m., when suspected kidnappers attacked workers of the Dangote Cement Factory who were laying a pipeline inside the forest area in Obajana.
On receiving a distress call, operatives of the KSVS Zariagi Sub-Command responded swiftly and engaged the suspected kidnappers in a gun duel inside the forest. Due to the superior firepower of the operatives, the criminals, despite sustaining various degrees of bullet injuries, escaped with one of the workers, Mr. Muri Sadiq.
The operatives, in collaboration with local hunters, later remobilized, reinforced and relaunched a counter-offensive rescue operation. The sustained pressure forced the suspected kidnappers to abandon their captive, who was rescued unharmed.
The Comptroller-General of the Kogi State Vigilante Service, Alh. Ibrahim Usman Anataku, praised his men for their show of bravery and urged them to sustain the tempo.
The Comptroller-General also expressed his profound appreciation to the Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his tireless support and encouragement towards the success of the service.
Furthermore, the Comptroller-General sent a warning to all criminal elements to desist forthwith or relocate from the state, noting that the service, in collaboration with other security agencies, will not tolerate any act of criminality.
He also sought the support of members of the public for real-time intelligence, promising to ensure the confidentiality of the informant and the information.
