Permit me to use this medium on behalf of the people of Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency commiserate with our very dear Leader, Elder, Associate and Friend, His Excellency, Arc. Yomi Awoniyi, former Deputy Governor of Kogi state, and his siblings, over the painful loss of their irrepressible and irreplaceable mother, Madam Florence Awoniyi, whose death occured on May 8th, 2023 at the Evercare Hospital, Lekki, Lagos, after a brief illness.
The death of Mama, who was the Matriarch of the Awoniyi family of Mopa in Kogi state, came to many as a huge shock and surprise. No doubt, Mama’s death is not only an irreparable loss to the entire Awoniyi family but also to many others who knew her, and also benefitted from her legendary spiritual interventions, timeless counsels and compassionate gestures.
Throughout her lifetime, Madam Florence Awoniyi displayed unusual passion and uncommon commitment to the good, and general well being of everyone around her and many others who had encounters with her. At home, in church, around the neighborhood, within the community, and beyond her immediate locations, Mama’s desire and wish for the welfare and personal development of people was simply unparalleled. Mama was a most selfless, altruistic personality and a natural bridge-builder and relentless peacemaker who lived according to Biblical ordinances anchored on love, hard work, sincerity, contentment and openness.
Though painful that Madam Florence Awoniyi has gone to be with her maker, but we take solace that she lived a life of total, complete, and sacrificial service to God and humanity. Also, one is happy that Mama lived over a decade above the scriptural Three score and Ten, gave birth to children who are all accomplished in their respective careers, as well as nurtured and mentored numerous others who are successful in their various endeavors and professions.
It is my prayer that as God Almighty grant Madam Florence Awoniyi eternal peace, the Creator will comfort His Excellency, Arc. Yomi Awoniyi, his siblings and the entire Awoniyi family, and grant everyone the Grace to bear the irreparable loss, Amen.
