THE COMEDY OF APC, GOVERNOR YAHAYA BELLO’S DEMAND TO VET PDP CANDIDATES’ TAX CLARANCE CERTIFICATES – Kogi PDP

In another pathetic developement and what seem total lack of understanding of governance, the Yahaya Bello led APC Governemnt in Kogi state has written yet another letter to the PDP state chairman to ask for verification of the party’s candidates’ tax clearance certificates, referring to those contesting elections as if they are employees of the PDP under what it called Personal Income Tax verification!

In a letter titled “VERIFICATION OF TAX CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE” (TCC) with reference number KGIRS/PIT/ Vol. 5/008046 dates 24th November, 2022, and yesterday the 8th of November, 2022, the APC is asking for the impossible, using the Kogi State Internal Revenue Services through a letter signed by one Sule Salihu Enehe, who claimed to be the acting Executive Chairman.

The party is surprised at the developement and wonders if the law they refered to is clear to them in the first instance, Personal Income Tax, asking if the PDP is personal in any way or acting as if the party has hired it to help verify its candidates’ tax clearance certificates.

The party hereby, advice the State Governmnt to direct it’s agencies appropriately and let them do their jobs and stop using them to witch-hunt the opposition, as this will also affect them as career officers who shouldn’t allow themselves to be used as tools, as the PDP describes this act as a measure of pressure on the APC, whose failures at the polls are getting clearer by the day.

The statement, signed by the party’s Director of Media and Communications, Comrade Dayo Onibiyo, reminded the civil servants in part that, “you are Government officials, not personal staffers and you should remember your oath on commitment to fairness and services to the people and not to be used for the purposes of witch-hunting, knowing fully well that you will be answerable and liable to whatever, you did, while in office and will answer fully for such under the laws of the land and civil service rules as career officers”.

The PDP as a law abiding party and one coming to take back the state from APC’s misrule, will not be distracted by these ill advised steps, and will surely act within the ambits of the laws of the land as at when due.
