Sunday Bisi Lacks Power To Preside Over Osun PDP Exco Meeting

My Purported Sack As Exco Member ‘A Joke’ Taken Too Far-Wale Ojo

Barrister Wale Ojo , who was named as acting Chairman of Osun state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP on Friday has described his reported suspension after a meeting presided over by Chief Sunday Bisi in Osogbo on Tuesday as a ruse.

It will be recalled that some party officials and stakeholders in the 30 Local Governments and Area Office in the state had converged on the Secretariat at Kings Square, Biket Junction, Osogbo on Friday to announce Barrister Wale Ojo as acting state chairman.

The legal committee of the state PDP headed by Hon. Niyi Owolade had however in a statement signed by Hashim Abioye, urged party members to ignore the assertions by the attendees of the meeting where Ojo was announced as acting chairman.

The committee insisted and asserted that Chief Sunday Bisi remains the state PDP Chairman.

The Osun state PDP exco meeting presided over by Chief Sunday Bisi had also on Tuesday launched a counterattack and announced the sack of Mr. Wale Ojo and six others as exco members.

Asserting that Chief Sunday Bisi lacks power to convene or preside over Osun state PDP exco meeting, Ojo in a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday argued that those who congregated to announce that himself and six others have been sacked as exco members are members of a group ‘marketing’ one of the PDP gubernatorial aspirants.

‘I read the resolution of the supporters of one of the PDP gubernatorial aspirants in Osun state in which some of our officers were allegedly suspended by those loyal to the aspirant while some officers were reprimanded with warnings.

It is disheartening that we have gotten to this level at this time that peace is gradually being restored to the state chapter.

We will not go to the trenches with them but I want to make bold to say that the gathering which was chaired or presided over by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Hon. Sunday Bisi was an illegal gathering.

Taking into the cognizance the dictates of the Court Judgment that was handed over to the party from the State High Court, Ife Division, he has no right whatsoever to preside over any meeting of the PDP.

So whatever the group may have done is illegal, ultra vires, null and void and of no effect.

Notwithstanding that, we have been communicating with leaders of the party and there is peace in PDP, Osun state Chapter’ he said.

Wale Ojo noted that all hands needed to be on deck to ensure victory for the party in the gubernatorial election scheduled to hold next year.

‘I want to implore all our party members to stay calm, stay focused and keep working tirelessly with a view to dislodging the incumbent ruling party, APC that is hell bent on impoverishing the citizens of Osun state on daily basis with their anti-human policies.

We will liaise with the leadership of the party, especially the BoT members, The National Assembly and Osun State Assembly caucuses, notable leaders across all the 30 LGAs and The Area Office as well as all other leaders of the party in Osun on how best we can resolve the lingering crisis in Osun State Chapter and put an end to it permanently’ he added.

He also announced plans to visit all the local governments in the state as part of the efforts to reposition the party for victory in the coming gubernatorial election in the state.

‘We will soon visit all the local governments and Wards to sensitize , educate and inform the people of developments in the party so that we can forge a common front that will be devoid of rumours and insinuations, look for how we can work together in harmony and unity to ensure that our party regains her lost glory and wins the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State in 2022.

We are also using this opportunity to appeal to those fomenting troubles to take the interests of the party at hearts and let’s all work together, let’s resolve whatever is happening right now in line with the constitution of the party and other extant laws of the country’ he submitted
