Start-Rite Schools student, Amasiani, ranked No. 3 African U-14 tennis player

 

A 13-year-old JSS 3 student of Start-Rite Schools, one of the leading educational institutions in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Chukwudubem Amasiani, has emerged African number three player in the Boys’ Under 14 tennis rankings for the continent.

According to a statement released by the school, “Start-Rite Schools, Abuja, is beaming with pride as its student, Chukwudubem Amasiani, has ascended to African No. 3 in the Boys’ U-14 tennis rankings while clinching the Doubles title at the ITF/CAT West & Central Africa Junior Tennis Championship in Togo. Dubbed “Alcaraz” for his playing style reminiscent of Spanish tennis star Carlos Alcaraz, the young sensation continues to make waves across the continent with his exceptional talent and resilience.

“The Confederation of African Tennis (CAT) website confirms that Amasiani accumulated 2,540 points from nine tournaments, solidifying his place among Africa’s elite young tennis players. His determination was on full display in Togo, where he claimed the Boys’ U-14 Doubles title in a fiercely contested final.

“In Singles, Amasiani delivered a masterclass in perseverance against Mali’s Albechir Diarra, the No. 2 seed. After narrowly losing the first set 4-6, he rallied to take the second set 6-2. The final set became an intense battle of will, with Amasiani emerging victorious at 11-9, showcasing the heart and skill that have become his trademark.

“Amasiani’s triumph is a testament to the power of hard work, supportive mentorship, and an unwavering belief in potential. As he continues his journey, he inspires young athletes across Nigeria and Africa, proving that the future of tennis on the continent is bright.

“With his eyes firmly set on new challenges, Chukwudubem Amasiani is a name that will resonate in tennis circles for years to come.”

The statement added that “The news of Amasiani’s remarkable feats has thrilled the Start-Rite Schools community, including Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, OFR, CON, SAN, Chairman of the school’s Advisory Board. A passionate advocate for tennis and sports development, Senator Ndoma-Egba expressed his excitement, emphasising the importance of nurturing young talents like Amasiani.”

It quoted Ndoma-Egba who is the Pro-Chancellor/Chairman Governing Council, Federal University, Oye Ekiti, as saying that “Chukwudubem’s success embodies the values we strive for at Start-Rite Schools i.e. excellence, dedication, and resilience.

“This victory is not just about winning titles; it is about inspiring others and raising a generation of stars across various sports.”
