South South Community In Kogi Felicitates Engr. Bashiru Gegu @ 47, Hails Him As Grassroots Mobilizer With No Rival

The South South States Residents in Kogi State have sent a message of felicitations to the Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Chief Engr. Abubakar Mohammed Bashir Gegu, on the auspicious occasion of his 47th birthday anniversary.

In a statement issued to newsmen in Lokoja on Wednesday, and signed by the President of South South States Residents in Kogi State and Special Adviser to the Governor on South South Mobilization, Abu Micheal, the community described Engr. Bashiru Gegu as a grassroots mobilizer with no rival, a bridge builder and a detribalized leader whose influence transcends ethnic and political boundaries.

Abu Micheal said the South South community in Kogi State is particularly proud to identify with Engr. Gegu, not only for his outstanding performance as Commissioner overseeing the state’s vast solid mineral resources, but also for his uncommon commitment to unity, peaceful coexistence and inclusive governance.

He noted that the appointment of Engr. Gegu as one of the Patrons of the South South Community in Kogi State was a well considered decision, informed by his consistent demonstration of love, support and solidarity to non-indigenes and his genuine belief in the Kogi project where every resident, irrespective of state of origin, has a sense of belonging.

According to the statement, Engr. Gegu has distinguished himself as a technocrat turned public servant who has brought professionalism, innovation and regulatory discipline to the mining sector in Kogi State, curbing illegal mining, promoting environmental sustainability and fostering harmony between government, investors and host communities as Chairman of the State Mineral Resources and Environmental Management Committee, MI-REMCO.

Beyond official duties, the Special Adviser said the Commissioner has remained a grassroots mobilizer par excellence, whose philanthropic interventions in education, healthcare, youth and women empowerment and community development have endeared him to many, including the South South residents who have benefited from his open door policy and humane disposition.

“On behalf of the entire leadership and members of South South States Residents in Kogi State, comprising Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo and Rivers States, we celebrate a dependable patron, a selfless leader and a true friend of the South South on his 47th birthday,” Abu Micheal stated.

He prayed for continued good health, wisdom, prosperity and divine protection for the celebrant, and wished him greater accomplishments in the years ahead in his service to Kogi State and Nigeria at large.

The South South community reaffirmed its loyalty and support to the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and pledged to continue to work with progressive stakeholders like Engr. Bashiru Gegu in sustaining peace, unity and development in Kogi State.

Once again, Happy birthday to a Grassroots Mobilizer for all time and seasons.
