In politics, the difference between an ordinary appointment and a strategic masterstroke lies in the ability to identify the right person for the right assignment at the right time. By appointing Hon. Dr. Abdullahi Bello, popularly known as Dollar, as Coordinator of Relax Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria (RTIFN) in Kogi State, the movement’s founder, Seyi Tinubu, has demonstrated a clear understanding of the importance of experience, political organisation and grassroots engagement. Indeed, Seyi Tinubu has hit the bull’s eye.
The appointment of Bello, immediate past Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State and current Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, is a strategic choice that aligns the movement’s objectives with the practical demands of grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Founded by Seyi Tinubu within the framework of the Renewed Hope Agenda, Relax Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria is a political support movement committed to promoting the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and mobilising support for his re-election in 2027.
For a movement pursuing such an objective, success requires more than publicity and campaign rhetoric. It demands effective organisation, credible leadership, strategic communication, policy advocacy and sustained engagement with communities. Most importantly, it requires coordinators who understand the political terrain and possess the capacity to translate strategic objectives into functional grassroots structures.
This is where Bello’s appointment becomes particularly significant. By selecting an experienced political organiser familiar with the state’s political architecture, Seyi Tinubu has demonstrated an appreciation of the relationship between leadership experience and grassroots effectiveness. Hon. Dr. Abdullahi Bello is a seasoned political figure whose experience has been shaped by party administration, stakeholder engagement and public service.
As immediate past Chairman of the Kogi APC, he occupied a position requiring political tact, organisational discipline and the ability to manage competing interests across local governments and wards. His tenure was marked by party organisation and electoral engagements that contributed to the political successes recorded under his leadership. His experience in managing party structures and coordinating stakeholders remains an important part of his political credentials.
Bello’s reputation among his political associates rests on his energetic, hands-on approach to assignments and his determination to pursue results. He understands that political leadership is measured not merely by titles or declarations, but by the structures established, relationships sustained and objectives achieved.
These qualities underpin his profile as an unapologetic performer: a determined mobiliser and political organiser prepared to confront difficult assignments and navigate complex political environments. Hence, his appointment provides an opportunity to bring these attributes to bear on a broader political platform.
Bello’s current position as Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs further strengthens the strategic logic of his appointment. Local government is a critical level of governance and political engagement in Nigeria. It is where public policies meet community realities, traditional institutions exercise considerable influence and citizens interact directly with government structures. The Commissioner’s responsibilities bring him into contact with local government institutions, traditional rulers and community stakeholders whose relationships are important to grassroots engagement. Combining his experience as a former state party chairman, this position gives him a practical understanding of the political structures and community dynamics that shape Kogi State. In this regard, his appointment as RTIFN Coordinator is a case of a square peg in a square hole.
Bello’s experience in party administration; building relationships, maintaining communication, understanding community concerns and creating platforms for sustained political participation, provide a foundation for this undertaking. He understands the importance of ward-level structures, local government coordination, stakeholder relationships and consistent engagement. This is why many of his political associates regard him as a relentless mobiliser and work-oriented leader whose approach is driven by determination and a commitment to results. His ability to engage diverse interests and coordinate political activities will be important as RTIFN seeks to strengthen its presence across Kogi State.
We commend Seyi Tinubu for using his eagle eyes for identifying and appointing Abdullahi Bello as the right person to coordinate RTIFN in Kogi State. The appointment reflects an appreciation of the importance of matching leadership experience with organisational dynamics and demands rather than treating grassroots mobilisation as a purely publicity-driven exercise, it recognises the value of practical political knowledge and the ability to coordinate people and structures.
His record as immediate past Kogi APC chairman, combined with his current responsibilities as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, provides a strong foundation for the assignment. Seyi Tinubu deserves commendation for recognising the value of this combination and entrusting Bello with the responsibility.
Indeed, Seyi Tinubu has hit the bull’s eye because the appointment places an experienced political organiser at the centre of RTIFN’s grassroots mobilisation efforts in a state where community relationships and local political structures are consequential.
In political mobilisation, experience matters, structure counts, and performance makes the difference. I therefore say a warm congratulations to Hon. Abdullahi Bello (Dolla), a perennial achiever and dogged political fighter. I wish him another season of victories as he pilots the affairs of RTIFN in Kogi State into 2027 elections.
