… Number increased from 5 to 7, bringing total boreholes in LGA to 29
LOKOJA – Barely five days after pledging relief for Lokoja residents battling acute water shortage, the Senator representing Kogi West, Distinguished Senator Sunday Karimi, has commenced construction of 7 industrial solar-powered motorised boreholes across Lokoja Municipal.
The project is a direct fulfillment of the commitment made by Senator Karimi during a Town Hall Meeting held on Monday, 24th August 2026 in Lokoja.
At the meeting, the Senator lamented the worsening water situation in the state capital. He recalled how he had to deploy water tankers to cushion the effect for residents throughout the holy month of Ramadan this year.
Senator Karimi had then promised to facilitate 5 industrial solar-powered boreholes in the most affected areas through the Corporate Social Responsibility intervention of one of the Federal Government agencies.
However, sources close to the Senator disclosed that the number has now been increased to 7 boreholes, in a bid to reach more communities.
This brings to 29 the total number of solar-powered motorised boreholes facilitated by Senator Karimi in Lokoja Local Government Area. It will be recalled that 22 such boreholes had earlier been completed and commissioned across the LGA.
Residents in the benefiting areas have expressed appreciation, describing the intervention as timely and people-oriented.
Senator Karimi reaffirmed his commitment to addressing critical infrastructure gaps in Kogi West and improving the living standards of his constituents.
