Seek Knowledge Before Politics – Senator Umeh Urges Youths

Senator Victor Umeh has charged Youths to seek knowledge before going into politics. The statement was made while addressing Members of the Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (CYON) Enugwu-Ukwu Deanery during their Youth Awareness and Sensitization Seminar with the theme: “Empowering The Youths For Active Political Participation And Inclusive Governance” held at St. Anthony’s Parish, Enugwu-Ukwu on August 22, 2026.

However, Senator Umeh who is a prominent sponsor and patron of the CYON in Awka Diocese, a Knight of St. John International and Papal Knight of Saint Sylvester was unavoidably absent and was represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Engr. Charles Ifeanyi Obi. He commended the CYON leadership for organizing the Seminar at a time the Nation is preparing for yet another important Election, pointing out that the Youths are often exploited and used for the wrong purposes by some politicians thus, the need to seek knowledge through Education before involving in politics to be able to make valuable contributions and qualify for any leadership position they may aspire to other than being used for thuggery, ballot box snatching, social media bullies and vote buying among other social vices.

Reacting to the theme of the seminar, “Empowering The Youths For Active Political Participation And Inclusive Governance” Senator Victor Umeh maintained that only an informed and properly formed Youth can participate actively in politics and contribute to engendering good governance.
