In preparation for school resumption across the 21 Local Government Areas of Kogi State, the State Focal Person of National Social Investment Programme (NSIP), Hon. Prince Abdulkareem Suleiman Onyekehi, has conducted Sensitization and Compliance Engagement program for Cooks who are beneficiaries of the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme (HGSFP) in the state.
Hon. Onyekehi, who doubles as the Special Adviser to Kogi Governor on Special Projects, was represented at the program on Friday in Lokoja, by the HGSFP Program Manager, Hajia Khadijat Karibo.
He emphasized the imperativeness of the sensitisation program which he said it concurrently took place across the three Senatorial Districts of the state.
The Focal Person stressed the need for the cooks, aggregators and other value chains on the programme to be effectively sensitised in order to guage the implementation and compliance level for effective service delivery.
“We all know that the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme (HGSFP) is an important component of the National Social Investment Program (NSIP) in Kogi State.
”Therefore as schools prepare to resume full academic activities next week, the Kogi NSIP considered it as a top priority to sensitize the cooks and aggregators and other value chains on program implementation and the ministry’s compliance measure to ensure effective service delivery of the programme.
”The warm feedback from the cooks from the three senatorial districts shows that the state is really achieving the set goals and objectives of the Home grown School Feeding Programme,” he said.
Onyekehi emphasised that the HGSFP was one of the four components of NSIP, noting that ”it is more frequent like never before under his supervision as focal person”.
He also disclosed that the 2nd Phase of distribution of ATM cards for enumerated beneficiaries of the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Program (GEEP 2.0) was ongoing.
He explained that the GEEP had three sub-components, such as: Tradermoni, Marketmoni and Farmermoni in which each beneficiary would get zero interest loan between between N50,000 – N300,000.
”While the Tradermoni and Marketmoni are currently being shortlisted for disbursements to intended beneficiaries, Farmermoni beneficiaries will be shortlisted any moment from now,” Onyekehi said.
