RT HON ISMAILA HUSSAIN INA: HIS TIME AND HIS IMPACT AT THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY


RT HON ISMAILA HUSSAIN INA also known as (Soul lover) is a rare breed community lover and astute political personality.
Before his time at the National Assembly at the green chamber, he was elected as the member representing Igalamela/Odolu  and was elected by his colleagues in the House as the Deputy Speaker November, 2008, a position he held and delivered optimally the dividend of democracy both in legislation and in helping to attract infrastructures in no small way to his constituents. This will form body of the subsequent article about his community impacting nature.

RT Hon ISMAILA, a community mass mobilizer was able to make it to the National Assembly to represent the good people of Idah Federal Constituency which is  made up of four LGAs, Idah Igalamela/Odolu, Ibaji and Ofu.  This feat wasn’t an easy sail but for the belief based on his antecedents as a former Director General PROTOCOL Government House Lokoja, House of Assembly member with the help of God, it was made possible.

HIS IMPACT
In order not to betray the trust bestowed by virtue of that leadership mandate of over a million constituents in that Federal Constituency,  RT Hon ISMAILA swung into action.  He brought to bare his massive experience from the Kogi State House of Assembly and as ranking member legislation was made easy for him and his voice was a leading and loud voice such that is missing today in the House of Representatives for the people of Idah Federal Constituency.

Some of the  motion he sponsored include and not limited to the following:

1) The need to investigate the activities of the oil companies and encroachment of Anambra State into some parts of Ibaji Local Government Area of Kogi State.

2) Motion on public importance for the Federal Government to intervene in the boundary crisis between Odeke and Echenyo communities in Kogi State and Aguleri-Otu in Anambra State.

3) Motion on the urgent need to connect Ibaji LGA to the National Grid

4) Need to urgently device a workable system of fertilizer distribution to the peasant farmers

5) Abandonment of the construction of the Otu-Ocha – Ibaji – Odolu – Idah – Ajegwu Federal Roads.

6) Non commencement of Greenfield Refinery Itobe, Kogi State.

These and many not listed here for the sake of  brevity.

INFRASTRUCTURAL INTERVENTIONS:

Aside his core function of legislation, the Honorable member during his time at the Green chamber facilitated in some cases and personally brought ease of livelihood to his constituents by providing some basic amenities as summarized below.

1) Facilitated and distributed massively Relief materials to victims of flood in 2012. across his Federal  Constituency since all the LGAs are riverine.

2) Drilling and sinking of over 25 new boreholes across the Constituency and in some other cases repaired broken and spoilt boreholes to provide portable water to the people.

3) Provision of empowerment programmes in various forms. Motorbikes in their hundreds, over 50 cars were presented and sewing machines and other equipments that  gives meaningful  lively hood.

4) Hundreds of His constituents members majorly youths gained meaningful Federal job placements and are doing very well today in their various capacities.

5) Provision of 25 million naira revolving loan to various associations and cooperatives.

6) The educational sector wasn’t left out as many blocks of classroom were either newly constructed or renovated.

All the above stated are verifiable.

In the coming days we will be feeling out his impactful leadership during his time as a State Assembly member.

Having said this, I think saying RT Hon ISMAILA Hussain delivered maximally during his time as a Green House Representatives won’t be out of place.

Opportunity for a comeback should be considered by all and sundry especially now that the Constituency has lost her voice.
