ROAD CONSTRUCTION AND THE NEED TO APPLAUD KOGI STATE GOVERNMENT.

I am one of the leading advocates for good road networks in Nigeria since the early 2000 till date.

One of my major criticisms of the Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration is the state of roads in Lokoja, the state capital among other things.
The event of last week, I mean the approval of contract for the construction of roads in the state spreading across the senatoral districts, and Lokoja the state capital, and including the ultra modern flyover at the Ganaja junction is worthy of commendation and support. I however, appeal to the state government to get the job delivered on time and according to specification.

Since government is a continuum, I urge the present administration to as a matter of urgency, prioritise the following road in her second phase of construction.
1. Completion of Otokiti – Zango- GYB Junction Road.
2. Wada Road bypass linking Ganaja village and Zone 8.
3. Adankoko – NIWA Quarters / Moreni Road linking INEC headquarters.
4. Construction of Pedestrian bridges on the Nataco – Felele portion of the Abuja – Lokoja – Okene highway.

Conclusion: The timely construction of the above mentioned roads will help decongestant vehicular movements in the state capital, reduce road crashes, especially the ever busy Nataco – Felele section of the Okene – Lokoja road.
The Wada Road bypass when completed, will further open Lokoja for new settlements, thereby expanding the state capital and attract investors to the capital city.
