Renewed Mandate: What Benue South Should Expect From Senator Abba Moro

By Emmanuel Eche-Ofun John
The good people of Benue South Senatorial District went to the polls on February 25, 2023 and re-elected their Senator, Comrade Abba Moro, on a landslide, to renew his mandate to represent them for another four years in the Senate.
Senator Moro, whose first term elapsed on Saturday, 10th June, 2023, will be inaugurated for another four-year term on Tuesday, June 13, 2023. The renewed mandate is a testament and affirmation of the senator’s sterling leadership and the quality representation that he has offered in the last four years.
As the only senator who survived a political onslaught in Benue and the only ranking PDP senator in the entire North Central, Senator Moro is set to hit the ground running and continue from where he paused on Saturday. As a grassroots person and man of the people who knows the pains and needs of his people, Senator Moro will, undoubtedly, re-double his efforts to touch more lives and make Benue South better.
Senator Moro has always said that he’s not in politics for any personal gains but for the good of his people, and this he has visibly proven and demonstrated. The numerous pro-people bills and motions that he has sponsored, the unprecedented infrastructural development in Benue South, the large number of youths empowered and employed, and the philanthropic gestures are all a pointer to the fact that he’s not a man who’s out to serve any selfish purpose but to make others happy.
As he gets sworn-in on Tuesday for another term, the people of Benue South should expect nothing less than what they have seen him do already. They should expect more roads, more hospitals, more communities getting connected to national grid, more youths getting employed and trained, more boreholes, sound legislative activities and all those things that stand him out as a performing lawmaker in the 9th Senate.
He will not be tired. He will not become unconcerned. He will not become ‘scarce’. He will be with his people at their trying and happy moments. His doors will continue to remain open. He will do more than he has done. He will not disappoint.
As he begins another legislative journey and we are expectant, what’s expected of us is to pray for and support him. We must avoid unnecessary criticism and antagonism that do us no good. We must put party politics and whatever sentiment aside and join hands with him to serve us better, for the more roads he will construct, the more healthcare centers he will build, the electrification projects in more villages, the boreholes that he will drill, the more classroom blocks that he will build and all the good laws he will be making are not for him and his family’s use alone, but for all of us, irrespective of our political parties.
If we support and pray for him, and be patient with him, he will serve us better and we will be the greatest beneficiaries.
He performed excellently well in his first term, he will do more in his second term!
