Registration and Revalidation Exercise: NYCN Encourages Youth Participation In Politics, Processes, Decision Making And Implementation

Following the commencement of the Registration and Revalidation exercise of the All Progressive Congress, APC, the Kogi State Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Comr. Israel Femi Alonge has charged Kogi and Nigerian Youths to take a firm grip of this opportunity and get themselves duly registered and revalidated so as to enable them become active members of the democratic, decision making and implementation Processes.

The Chairman who made this call, said Youths can only become Politically relevant by actively participating in Politics through this exercise that will give them the platform to have a voice and be heard upon any particular course being championed in one accord, noting that time for the activation of this is no better time than now given that the Chairman All Progressive Congress, APC, Committee on Registration and Revalidation of Youth and Women is no other person but a Youthful and Useful Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State; A Governor he described as the most youth and women Friendly Governor in Nigeria.

Comr. Alonge further charged the Council’s Coordinators of the twenty one Local Government Areas in the State to work hand in hand with every other afiliated Youth Organisations in their respective Local Government Areas to ensure that they make massive Mobilization provisions for youths to participate in the ongoing exercise in their respective Local Government Areas in the State.

According to him, All Progressive Congress both within the State and at the National level, has shown great concerns to the women and youths by availing us the opportunities to be part of the governance and Policy Making Implementation particularly in the Kogi State where the 21 Local Government Executive Vice Chairmen and Council Leaders are women, over sixty four female Councillors scattered across the twenty one Local Government Areas and former NYCN Coordinators made automatic Secretaries and Supervisory Councilors of their various Local Government Areas following local arrangements.

Youth Involvement and Participation in governance and policy making goes beyond the usual ranting on social media. Now is the time to go down to the grassroots and become card carrying members of a political party. This according to the chairman is the beginning of greater opportunities for Youths in their respective localities.

The Level of our tournament and active participation in this exercise across the country will show to the world our level of serious and readiness to take charge especially as we have claimed to no longer be the “Keep quiet generation” as displayed in the just ended EndSARS saga with the mantra “SoroSoke”.

The Chairman revealed that the Executives of the Council at the State level has already constituted a committee that will tour round the state to have a first hand updates concerning every of the daily activities during the ongoing Registration and Revalidation exercise across the state and the country.

He admonished youths to before , during and after this exercise, maintain peace and orderliness and also cooperate in their usual manner with the security agencies to help in the general fight against insecurity challenges in the country.
