Ramadan: Tazan foundation donates food items to less privilege in Lokoja


 

Poised by the need to redeem one of the tenets of Ramadan and putting smiles on the faces of the less privileged, a Foundation, Tazan Saahibfatiu Onimisi Foundation “With Good Intentions”, has donated food items to hundreds of less privileged persons in Lokoja, Kogi State capital.

Speaking to press men at Old Market, one of the venues of the donation, the founder of the Foundation, Tazan Saahibfatiu Onimisi, said the gesture would help reduce the difficulty the less privileged face during and after the Ramadan fast.

Tazan, who is also the Director of Foreign Affairs and Integration, United Arab Emirate, of National Youths Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in Diaspora, said Prophet Muhammad encourages the Muslim Ummah to feed a fasting person to maximise more rewards from the Lord.

The philanthropist also said that the objective of sharing the food to the poor was to make life easier for them to observe Ramadan fast with fewer burdens.

He used the occasion to call all Muslims to assist those in need, especially at this trying time of the COVID-19 pandemic, with a view to earning multiple rewards from Allah.

According to him, even without COVID-19, Ramadan period is a time of giving more charity and succor to the needy.

He disclosed that the Foundation has so far sponsored the basic education of children, mostly orphans, given food to the less privileged as well as provided aid for those in need.

He added that the Foundation would soon embark on projects to support orphans to get education and provide skills training to widows, to make them self-reliant.

Tazan also appealed to government to support organisations with such initiatives, to enable them offer more assistance to orphans, widows and other indigent members of the society.

He further wished the Executive Governor of the state, Yahaya Bello a happy celebration, while wishing him Allah’s blessings in his political endeavors.

Earlier, the Director of Mobilization of Bello Ambassadors Network, Kogi chapter, Abdullahi Sheriff Abukah, thanked Tazan Foundation for always reaching to the needy in the society, while lauding governor Yahaya Bello for being a role model to youths on the state and the country by extension.
