Ramadan: and Tazan distributes food to Muslim community in Lokoja

In the spirit of this year’s Ramadan, a non-governmental organization, Tazan Onimisi Foundation distributed food items to Muslim community in Lokoja.

Essentially, the kind gesture was aimed at cushioning the impact of the economic situation in the country, as the month of Ramadan is globally recognized for increased acts of worship among the Muslims.

Speaking at the distribution of the food items, the founder of the foundation, Amb. Tazan Onimisi said the initiative is for humanitarian and charity purposes.

According to the him, the distribution of the food items was in the spirit of Ramadan that reflects the love and giving to people regardless of their background, social status, religious status, or race.

He added that the initiative has been on for more than five years and this year the Foundation will be reaching out to more institutions and the less privileged.

While stressing that the teachings of the holy prophet Mohammed must reflect in people’s life, he urged that there is a need to give attention to humanity and play down religious bigotry and bias.

Amb. Tazan charged Muslims and people of other religious faith to show love to one another and also to be selfless and humane.

Speaking on the free food items, one of the beneficiaries, Malam Ibrahim Adejoh, expressed appreciation to Tazan Foundation.

“We have collected the food items that they used to distribute to us every year. This year we got rice, noodles and provisions. This would assist me in feeding my family.

“Before they came we were wondering if they will come this year because of the economic situation but we thank God that they came today. We pray that Allah will continue to bless them so that they can increase the quantity, number and variety of the items because it helps us greatly every year during Ramadan,” he said.
