Across Kogi East, from Bassa and Ankpa in the north to Idah, Ibaji, Omala and Olamaboro in the South, the conversation ahead of 2027 has shifted. Voters are no longer asking who has the loudest posters. They are asking who has the competence, integrity and track record to change the sad narrative of representation that has trailed the district for years. That name that keeps coming up is QS Aminu Abubakar Suleiman.
A Quantity Surveyor, Project Manager, and Public-Private Partnership specialist, QS Aminu is now widely seen as the game changer who will bring his wealth of experience from both the private and public sectors to reposition Kogi East Senatorial District. He is contesting on the platform of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, a platform many in the district have embraced as capable of correcting the wrongs of the past and giving the people a fresh start.
Born on May 4, 1974 in Idah, QS Aminu holds an HND in Quantity Surveying from Kaduna Polytechnic, a PGD in Construction Management from ATBU Bauchi, and an MSc in Project Management from Sheffield Hallam University, UK. He is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors. As Principal Partner and CEO of CDP Partnership Ltd, he has managed billion-naira national projects, including the remodeling of five international airport terminals in Abuja, Lagos, Kano, Port Harcourt and Enugu. For more than 23 years, his work has centered on construction, cost management, and PPP delivery of critical infrastructure across Nigeria. It is this professional background that constituents now map directly to what a Senator should deliver: roads, schools, healthcare facilities, jobs and stable electricity. His policy focus has consistently been built around economic development, education reform, fiscal responsibility, security, healthcare and power, with the argument that reliable electricity is the backbone for industrialization and SME growth in Kogi East.
What truly sets QS Aminu apart among the gladiators seeking to represent Kogi East is that he possesses all the qualities of an effective lawmaker. He is known for integrity and an untainted public and private record. Community leaders describe him as a man of clean hands, whose humility and willingness to listen make him accessible to everyone regardless of status. He practices servant-leadership in real terms. From interventions for flood victims in Ibaji to support for displaced families in Bassa, stories of his assistance with school fees, medical bills and emergency relief are repeatedly shared. Youths point to town halls, unannounced community visits, and direct phone access as proof that he does not hide behind aides. In a Democracy Day statement in June 2026, he captured his philosophy clearly when he said that credible representation means showing up not just on election day but every sitting day of the Senate, and that people-centred lawmaking means bills sponsored in Abuja must be shaped by townhalls held in Idah, Ankpa, Dekina and across the district. He has also pledged to leverage PPPs to fund schools, health centers and roads, and to insist on transparency and accountability in how federal resources are used.
The movement around QS Aminu cuts across party lines, religious differences, and the ethnic diversity Kogi East is known for. ADC stakeholders in Igalamela Odolu, Idah, and Ankpa have declared support for him, describing him as a man of outstanding character and deep compassion for the Igala Kingdom. A former APC Zonal Youth Leader also endorsed him, citing his clarity of vision and people-centered approach. His community service has not gone unnoticed. The Ogba Community Development Union conferred on him its 2025 Distinguished Community Service Award in recognition of contributions that have benefited Nigeria, Kogi State, Mozum land and Ogba Community. At the presentation in Lokoja, it was stated that he represents the kind of leadership Kogi East needs — a bridge-builder with the capacity to reposition the zone. The President-General of the Union also urged support for the ADC aspirant, noting that Suleiman has the credentials to restore Kogi East’s rightful place in national politics.
Reports and analysis published by The Nigerian Post have further documented this shift, noting that voters are now scoring aspirants on character and capacity, and that QS Aminu keeps clearing the bar in consultations across the nine local governments.
Kogi East cannot afford to mortgage this moment on the mundane sentiments that have defined past selections. The district needs broad shoulders to carry its yearnings. It needs a senator who understands budgeting, project delivery, and how to attract federal investment. QS Aminu has said this journey is beyond personal ambition. It is about giving the people a stronger voice, quality representation, and effective legislative advocacy that will attract development to Kogi East.
He comes with competence, compassion, and a clean record. For many in Kogi East, that is the new standard. And that is why QS Aminu Abubakar Suleiman is seen as the game changer the district has been waiting for.
