The Executive Director, Conscience for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution CHRCR, Comrade Idris Miliki has urged the State Government to as a matter of urgency look into the four thousand naira per student levy being charged in public schools across the State by the Parents Teachers Association, PTA, in conjunction with Principals .
Comrade Miliki stated this in a remark in Lokoja at the third delegate conference of Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, ASUSS.
According to him, the PTA levy is having a negative impact on the good education policy being implemented by Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo led administration.
On infrastructural development of public schools, while acknowledged a bit of improvement, the ED also called for more attention to make available structures more conducive for teaching and learning.
Comrade Miliki equally called for the introduction of valid identity cards for students for easy identification in the face of security challenges in the country.
On palliatives given to the people of the State to cushion the effect of the economic hardship, Comrade Miliki said the CSOs in the State is calling on the Government to divert more resources to providing affordable means of transportation for the workers in the State.
He described the relationship between Organised Labour and Civil Society Organisations, in the State as being cordial, urged Labour to be more involved in issues of public interest at the State House of Assembly.
