The former Minister of State, Labour and Employment, Professor (Chief) Stephen Ikani Ocheni was among several dignitaries that were at Avrugo in Igalamela Local Government Area of Kogi State for the traditional/funeral rites of a community leader in the Area, Chief Francis Okwoli.
The late Community Leader, Chief Francis Okwoli is the Uncle of the Commissioner for Transportation in Kogi State, Chief Baron Okwoli.
The former Minister was received on arrival in the Community by the State Commissioner for Transportation, Chief Baron Okwoli, family members and other personalities.
Professor Stephen Ocheni in a remark ,described the deceased as a role model who impacted on the lives of many within and outside of his immediate environment.
He said years after the demise of Chief Francis Okwoli, some of his outstanding life styles and profound legacies still resonates with those that came his ways while alive.
“The number of eminent sons and daughters of the Community, including those from outside that were in this Community, (Avrugo) for the occasion indicates that Chief Francis Okwoli was a Man of distinction with exemplary conduct and life style”.
The former Minister enjoined the immediate family members and others in the community to always be inspired with the positive attributes of the deceased, said life should be lived not only for immediate family interest but also for others as exemplified by the life of late Chief Francis Okwoli.
Professor Stephen Ocheni commended the Kogi State Commissioner for Transportation, Chief Baron Okwoli for emulating some of the rare qualities of his late Uncle, urging him to continue to promote the spirit of oneness and greater development of the Area which the deceased represent.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Chief Baron Okwoli said the family was delighted with the visit of the former Minister, noted that it demonstrates the love he has for the Okwoli family.
The Commissioner commended Professor Stephen Ocheni for always identifying with his people, adding that he is a mentor to many.
Present to receive the former Minister were the Chairman of Igalamela/Odolu Local Government, Kross Onoja, his Vice, Mrs Acho Musa, the former Majority of Kogi state House of Assembly, Elder Friday Sani, some members of the Local Government Legislative Council and other personalities.
