
Prof. Ogbo’s Final Bow: Kogi Poly Rector Bids Farewell Amidst Record-Breaking Achievements

Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, the outgoing Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, has highlighted significant achievements during his tenure.
Prof. Ogbo made the disclosure in his valedictory speech, noted that the institution has made tremendous progress, including a 100% accreditation status for all programmes, introduction of new programmes like Mechatronics Engineering Technology and Agricultural Technology, and establishment of the Directorate of Information Technology Resources Centre (ITRC) and Directorate of Sports.
The Rector listed some key achievements recorded during his tenure to include:
– Improved Security: 107 security threats were detected and neutralized, and notorious criminal hideouts were dismantled.
-Academic Excellence: Introduction of e-examination, e-results computation, and e-payment systems improved transparency and boosted confidence in examinations.
– Infrastructure Development: Renovation of hostels, construction of new infrastructure, including a security building and a health centre.
– Staff Welfare: Cash-backing of promotions, recruitment of nearly 1,000 staff, and access to over ₦816 million in TETFund staff development interventions.
Professor Usman also acknowledged challenges, including the need for more infrastructure, inadequate staffing, and limited funding.
He expressed gratitude to the State Government, led by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, and stakeholders for their support.
