The recent directive for a renew onslaught against banditry in the north west region issued to the troops by the incubent COAS Lt General Olufemi Oluyede is no doubt yielding a remarkable outcome.
The killing of top and notorious banditry Commanders in Zamfara axis including hasty surrender of different terrorist groups around the Katsina banditry corridors is evidently indicative that a core infantry General with north east combat experience both as former Core Commander of infantry and a General officer Commading (GOC) suggestive the Chief is fully in charge and truly out to finally and completely Stamp out terror and insurgency in our body polity.
As a civil society group following the fight against banditry with keen interest over the years, steady decline of military exploits against the insurgents over time is being reversed within this short time frame of assumption of office by the COAS inline with the Presidential Marching orders intandem with renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu towards ensuring peace and security across Nigeria.
At the Leadership Centre, we are confident that sustaining the current heat in the North West is a sin quo non not only for the peace in the region, but also towards a replicate in the North East and in the shortest possible time achieving an enduring peace in Nigeria as a whole.
While using this medium to equally appreciate the ground combants for carrying out issued orders satisfactorily thus far, the COAS is also hereby urged to prioritize welfare and troop motivation in order to maitain the success tempo.
In Conclusion, this press statement would end by saying ‘insecurity anywhere is insecurity everywhere’, therefore, Citizens must view security issue as everybody’s business, thus, everyone must be alive to citizenship responsibilities and in this regards, offering useful intelligence to the troops to enable them speedily deal with the Challenges; safeguarding innocent lives and the defence of territorial integrity of Nigeria nation.
