President Tinubu’s inauguration : Kogi NLC Chairman harps on giving attention to the workforce, Congratulates Gov. Bello on national award


 

As Nigeria witnesses the coming of a new President, Kogi State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Gabriel Amari has emphasized the need for the new administration to accord necessary attention to the workforce.

 

Speaking to Newsmen in Lokoja on the expectations from President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, Comrade Amari said the need for improved welfare of workers cannot be over emphasized.

Comrade Amari explained that the take home of Nigerian workers is low compared to other nations across the globe, especially developing nations like Nigeria.

He urged President Ahmed Tinubu to immediately put necessary mechinery in place to reposition the workforce by initiating measures that are positive.

The NLC boss particularly noted that the pay rise for workers in the federal service was a positive development, but advised same to be replicated at the state level, bearing in mind that workers all buy from same market.

He equally called on the new administration in the Country to address the disparity in wages, saying it has caused incessant strikes in the Country.

While congratulating President Tinubu and Nigerians on the successful transition of power, Comrade Amari urged the government to promptly address the general poverty level in the Country, adding that Nigerians needed more rest in terms of high cost of living and security among others.

The Kogi NLC boss also congratulated Governor Yahaya Bello on the conferment of the Commander, Order of the Niger, (CON) by forner President Muhammadu Buhari.

Comrade Amari described the award as very deserving in view of the journey so far, urging him to do more for the workers to sustain the good name
