POSSIBLE PLOTS TO ARREST OGORI-MAGONGO ASSEMBLY CANDIDATE, OTHERS REVEALED – PDP KOGI MEMBERS CRY OUT

Members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State have expressed apprehension over Police invitation of the party’s candidate for the Ogori-Magongo State Constituency Election, Mr. Bode Ogunmola for questioning on incidents of unrest in the area, as they fear it could be a ploy to arrest and detain the candidate and other party members.

In a letter dated November 18, 2022, the Commissioner of Police invited Mr. Ogunmola, alongside the PDP Chairman, Ogori-Magongo, Mr. Emmanuel Duro Olufade and one Mr. Donatus Olufade to the Office of the Area Commander, Karaworo Street, Lokoja by 12pm on November 23, 2022 to answer questions relating to the recent unrests in what it described as a “consolidated investigation”.

The letter of invitation, which was signed by the Area Commander, Lokoja, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ben Osuji on behalf the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, referenced a complaint letter by Governor Yahaya Bello and a directive by the Inspector General of Police.

However, members of the party have expressed concern over the development, describing it as an abuse of power by Governor Bello who they accuse of using the influence of his office in an attempt to intimidate opposition party members in the state.

Bode Ogunmola particularly wondered why he is being dragged into the investigation as he has never had any altercation with anyone. In his words, “Is it an offence to be in opposition or to contest an election in our country? So, why this attempted intimidation? In any case, we are not deterred in any way.
